Green Skills Alliance

The Green Skills Alliance (GSA) is a group of organisations who represent employers and workers on a national basis and are working together to provide advice and guidance across the wider green sector, but with particular focus on Green Deal.

The GSA has the following members:

Building Futures Group (formerly Asset Skills) – representing among other job roles these roles from the green sector – Green Deal Advisors, Housing Association Managers and Facilities Managers

CITB (formerly Construction Skills) – SSC representing among other job roles these job roles from the green sector – Internal & External Insulation Installers, Surveyors

SummitSkills – representing among other job roles these roles from the green sector – Solar Photovoltaics Installers, Air & Ground Source Heat Pump Installers, Solar Thermal/Biomass/Micro Combined Heat & Power Heating Installers

The GSA has agreed to focus on the following 5 broad workstreams:

1. Green Deal Exemplars including:

  • Work with Green Deal implementation initiatives to ensure that the supplies of skilled workers are available to deliver real energy efficiency gains and significant measurable reductions in carbon emissions.
  • Deliverables will vary but may include local supply chain growth models, establishing partnership delivery networks, supply chain briefings, case studies, co-promotion events.

2. Filling the Gaps in the Green Deal Competency Framework

  • Green Deal Competency Framework Impact Analysis
  • Green Deal Career Progression Pathways Project
  • Green Deal Qualification Development Coordination
  • Non-Domestic Energy Advice and Assessment
  • Green Deal Skills for Traditional Buildings
  • Scotland Energy Efficiency Modelling

3. Raising Awareness and Ambition including:

  • Green Deal Skills Alliance Roadshows
  • General Builder Awareness Raising Events
  • Green Deal & You online information resource

4. Trainer Provider Capacity Builder including:

  • Expert Advisory Group
  • Project Evaluation
