Common Minimum Technical Competences

The Building Regulations Competent Person Schemes have set minimum technical competence requirements for each type of work for which scheme membership is available.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) has set minimum competence requirements for MCS installer certification. The competence requirements for each technology within the scope of the MCS are published in the MCS Microgeneration Installer Standards documents.

Click here to see the annexes referred to in the Building Regulation MTC document and Microgeneration Certification Scheme / Microgeneration Installer Standards. Please note: some of these documents are marked ‘DRAFT’ as the annexes are in the process of being updated.

Where there is a technology or type of work that is common to both schemes, the competence requirements are common to both schemes and have been mutually agreed by each scheme. Click here for more information about these common minimum technical competences.

SummitSkills is pleased to offer, on behalf of the Competent Person Schemes, a mapping review service to recognise assessment that meets the minimum technical competence criteria. More information about the Mapping Review service…
