![]() NOSSummitSkills is updating the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for renewable and environmental technologies to ensure approved training and assessment is in place. This comes after completion of an independent report commissioned by SummitSkills in 2007 (click here to download the report). It follows development of the NOS and minimum technical competencies which was scheduled for completion early in 2008. It is clear that significant efforts are needed to address training on microgeneration technologies in the UK. The environmental technologies are all viewed by the Building Services Engineering Sector as extensions of current job activities. For example, solar thermal hot water is an extension of plumbing or domestic heating engineers and solar photovoltaic an extension of an electrotechnical skill set. For further information about the NOS for Environmental Technollogies, please email Trevor Hill at SummitSkills. |
