National Occupational Standards (NOS)

SummitSkills is reviewing the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for renewable and environmental technologies to ensure approved training and assessment is in place and fulfils the requirements of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

The environmental technologies are all viewed by the building services engineering sector as extensions of current job activities. For example, solar thermal hot water is an extension of plumbing or domestic heating engineers and solar photovoltaic (PV) an extension of an electrotechnical skill set.

Some of the technologies are also being made available as options within 'green' apprenticeships for those new to the building services engineering sector.

All NOS can be viewed on the National Occupational Standards Database.
