Foundation degrees framework specification
Component IV: Applied Building Services Engineering
In order to integrate and apply the principles of option pathways, knowledge and skills bases, it is important the framework should include modules that provide for this integration. The two mandatory modules are intended to draw on the content of the technical knowledge and skills base and the DLOs for sustainable building services. This component is likely to represent a minimum of 15% of all programmes and 20% of programmes contributing to IEng accreditation.
Mandatory modules
Suggested modules:
Notes - for programmes seeking accreditation as contributing to IEng this section should map well against UK Spec Broad Area of Learning: “Design” and also against Broad Area of Learning “Engineering Analysis”. Providers should review UK Spec to check for any variations or changes.
This component also helps meet the higher level learning outcomes for Practical Skills and helps satisfy the expectation within UK Spec General Learning Outcomes “Practical Skills” that there will be both individual and group work and that participation in a major project is expected.
