Training Quality Standard: information for training providers

This section is provided to assist training providers in accessing information and guidance to support pre-application self-assessment and if necessary, organisational development processes.

Why is the Training Quality Standard (TQS) important?

The TQS supports several key initiatives:

  • the introduction of demand-led funding;
  • expansion of the network of National Skills Academies;
  • expansion of the Train to Gain programme;
  • the Framework for Excellence; and
  • the consolidation of the current Quality Assurance Framework.

In addition to supporting these initiatives, achivement of the TQS will lead to valuable recognition from employers and stakeholders that a training provider is responsive and that they have excellence in more than one sector.

  • Part B guidance -  information relating to Part B for building services engineering applications
  • QIA Part B - information and links to a suite of additional support resources jointly developed between the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) and SummitSkills to support training providers considering or seeking Part B certification in building services engineering.
  • QIA Employer Responsiveness Resource Pack - the QIA website contains materials designed to support providers who wish to improve the responsiveness of their provision.
  • Sector Skills Agreement - a full range of SSA documents available for download from the SummitSkills SSA website.
  • SummitSkills Footprint Guidance - information on the sector footprint covered by SummitSkills.
  • CoVE status - this guide contains useful information if you have CoVE status and need to know how this relates to the Training Quality Standard.
