Employer Clusters help NW businesses to train

07 Jul 2010

SummitSkills in the north west of England is supporting local employers through the establishment of Employer Clusters in a project set up to enable local businesses to continue to meet their training needs during the challenges of the current economic climate.

We are working on the project in partnership with ConstructionSkills, helping employers who cannot commit to a full-time apprentice to continue to participate in training, maximising their productivity by maintaining skills development in the workforce.

Funding has been made available through the European Social Fund and the Learning and Skills Council to establish three group training associations to cover the North West region.  The project aims to match redundant apprentices with employers on a temporary or short-term basis so they can continue to train.  Some eligible companies may receive a financial incentive to support ongoing training.

Our Employer Clusters factsheet gives further details about the project, including information about the group training associations, developing leadership skills and available funding.

There are currently two Group Training associations operating in the Merseyside and Pennine Lancashire area.
