Building Services Engineering – Bringing Buildings to Life

So, when was the last time you had a really Good Day? This week? Last week? Last month? Can’t remember? You can find your ideal job within building services engineering, one that you actually enjoy…Imagine that!

From installing a light display for 40,000 people at a music festival, creating unique environmental systems or bringing buildings and homes to life, the opportunities are endless.

So just how important is Building Services Engineering?

Well, just imagine that it didn’t exist. That would mean there would be no electricity, heating or running water. So we’re talking no lighting, no warm buildings, no computers, no cooking, no fridges or freezers, no sanitation… it doesn’t take a genius to work out how different our lives would be.

So many of the things we take for granted, like the plumbing in our houses to the street lighting outside, are only there thanks to building services engineering (BSE). It’s a vital part of our lives and as such it requires a highly skilled and professional workforce – people with the passion and determination to improve our lives.

BSE is made up of four key industries:

  • air conditioning and refrigeration
  • electrotechnical
  • heating and ventilating
  • plumbing

Each one offers exciting and demanding careers that are constantly developing alongside technology. And world-class training and qualifications, apprenticeship schemes and continuous professional development help keep BSE professionals at the cutting edge – ready to meet the new challenges faced by the sector head-on.

Leading the way with environmentally-friendly technology

The cutting edge is where you’ll need to be. BSE has to be at the forefront of environmentally-friendly technologies, designing low carbon footprint systems like solar water heating, photovoltaics or micro wind turbines to name just a few. Be a part of important

Basically, it’s about designing, installing and maintaining all the facilities that allow all of us to live and work in comfort and safety. To work in BSE is to play a major part in people’s lives.
