SummitSkills working around the UK

Across the UK nations – and wider

SummitSkills is always working hard with our partners in each of the four nations of the UK to ensure skills development for the BSE sector is addressed…

The BEST (Built Environment Sustainability Training) programme is a joint venture with Cardiff University and other stakeholders like ourselves looking and Energy Efficiency training across Wales. SummitSkills is a joint sponsor of BEST and the training developed by them was developed in response to SummitSkills’ Sector Needs Analysis, to ensure it is meeting identified gaps and priority areas. Supported by the European Social Fund, through the Welsh Government, BEST offers flexible, fully subsidised training to develop knowledge and skills in the latest sustainability practices for people who live or work in one of Wales’ Convergence areas.

The second meeting of the Erasmus+ Cosmet project took place recently in Vilnius, Lithuania, with partners from the UK, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Poland and Spain attending.

The project partnership has been established to develop a curriculum, Open Educational Resources (OERs) and provide a framework for the development of an EU qualification in smart metering skills for construction site/project managers. The project began in September 2015 and will be completed in March 2018.

The main discussion at the meeting focused on the second phase of the project – the development of learning units. These will be based on learning outcomes which were established following research with industry and VET providers. (The report of the research can be found here.) The learning units will be tested with industry and VET providers in the coming weeks.
